Sports Physiotherapy is the specialised part of Physiotherapy which deals with injuries and issues related to athletes. It is evidence based on the safe participation of sport and exercise. Sports Physiotherapy integrates science (biomechanics, exercise physiology, pain physiology) with Sports Psychology, Physiotherapy examination and assessment, exercise and manual therapy.
Sports injuries are different from day-to-day injuries. Athletes put greater demands on their body, which stresses their muscles, joints and bones. Sports Physiotherapists understand this and help athletes to recover from sporting injuries. They also provide education and resources to prevent problems.
